This is a landmark blog. This is the 100th installation of this REI Blog,“A Shot of Baile”, and I would like to talk about persistence. Trust me, persistence is what helped me make it to the 100th blog, and I am blessed and glad that I did.
Casey Eberhart shows this slide in one of his presentations (pictured above). He says that it is the MOST talked about, photographed, and copied slide of the entire Power Point Slide deck. I have to agree that it is powerful and reminds us that we have to stay persistent in our efforts and stay on track.
When you contact prospects for the first time, whether by yellow card, email, telephone or in person, it should be viewed as a mere first step in the process and not a do or die moment. It should be the beginning of the “relationship” that culminates in either an understanding on why the deal won’t work or having the deal that will. A friend of mine, Matt Skinner of Twelvestone Capital, persistently went to a potential seller’s house every week for a year before he finally closed the deal. Now, he has a multi-million dollar deal all but wrapped up. He realized and used the power of persistence.
Think about it this way…
If you actually follow up with a prospect, it puts you ahead of 60% of your competitors. If you make contact 4 or more times, you are ahead of 90% of them! Would you rather be in the 90% or the 10%? The successful people in our business, any business, are persistent.
Be persistent in your goals and always let the possibilities of the future pull you towards them. It is the future we create that defines us. Abraham Lincoln once said, “The best way to predict the future is to create it.” Tough to disagree with that guy.
I’d like to thank…
All of the people who have supported me over these last 100 blogs, starting with Corey Siegel at MOR Financial for bringing me into the fold. Sean Morsi and Ajay Mehra for their support and belief in me along the way. Karo Blikian for being the liaison between myself and the main office. Mostly, I would like to thank those that wrote to me, either to give me feedback on the blog or to ask for help and advice. These are the people that I write for. I do enjoy the emails and being able to help every one of you.
Over the last 100 blogs we have covered many aspects of business, of rehabbing houses, and of philosophies on life. If anyone has read all of them, let me know. I have something special just for you! For anyone who has a subject in mind that they’d like me to write about, please let me know. I will definitely write about any subject that relates to real estate and rehabbing houses. This is a passion of mine and I hope that it has come through that way. I’ve tried to share the good that I have done as well as the mistakes that I have made. Anyone who has told you that they haven’t made any mistakes hasn’t been in business very long.
One last shameless plug…
I have a house on the market. You can see some of the videos of the construction at my YouTube page. My partner Robert and I are very proud of it. I think we have done an amazing job with the house. We purchased it at $1,130,000 and are going to resell it at about $1,700,000. It isn’t my first multi-million dollar house, but it is certainly the one that I am the most proud of. If you are in Los Angeles, please go by the open house and take a look. Let us know if you read about it here. We are working with an amazing interior decorator (and giving her services away to the lucky home owner). Tara…you are awesome!
If anyone has more questions or wants more one-on-one coaching, don’t hesitate to contact me. This is a passion for me and I truly enjoy sharing what I know with others.
